15.12.06 - Alien games in the making...
Looks like there'll be a couple of Alien based games in the making, with both a FPS and an RPG getting passed onto developers by right's owner Sega.

Gearbox are developing an Alien FPS based on the "original movies" (1-3 hopefully):

Whilst Obsidian are making the Alien RPG:

Shooter to "retain the atmospheric look and feel of the original films" says Sega

Currently, details are almost as elusive as the biomechanical organism in the original Alien movie. Sega's release didn't include any details on what we can expect at all. But Sega says that the Gearbox-developed shooter "will retain the atmospheric look and feel of the original films while leveraging next-generation technology to create an entirely new interactive Alien experience."

Give us an FPS as good as James Cameron's Aliens and we'll be happy space marines. Hundreds of Aliens on screen at the same running in your direction, with you pointing a massive gun at them? Yes please.

Sega also recently confirmed that KOTOR II developer Obsidian Entertainment is handling an RPG based on the Alien franchise.

Both the FPS and the RPG games are expected on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The bad news is that none of them will be with us till 2009. Let the hype machine begin...
